Pub Originals BBQ Pork Crunch Review
Pub Originals BBQ Pork Crunch comes in a large, mid-pink bag. The design catches the eye, although the word “Pork” is printed in dark pink and is surprisingly difficult to read.
A three-star “high protein” claim appears in the top corner. It is a fair claim: the bag lists 63.4g of protein per 100g. With protein getting so much attention lately, that label feels very much of the moment.
The smell and texture
Opening the bag releases a bacon-like, barbecue aroma. The pieces are exceptionally light and puffy, and every one seems evenly cooked. There are none of those hard, underdone bits which some people think can occasionally spoil a bag of pork crunch, but which I actually quite like.
As you would expect from pork crunch, there is no meat, fat or hair. The seasoning is spot on, with enough salt to bring out the flavour and a pleasant BBQ taste that does not overpower it.
Sometimes pork crunch leaves a stubborn residue around your teeth, a bit like when you eat too many Jacob’s Crackers. I did not have that problem with these.
The last handful
The biggest surprise came at the bottom of the bag. For the first time I can remember with pork crunch, there were no tiny pieces, no dust and no leftover seasoning or salt. Just an empty bag.
Verdict: Light, evenly cooked BBQ pork crunch with a well-balanced flavour and nothing wasted at the bottom.
