Uncle Alberts, Barnsley Pig, Pork Crackling Review
Hairy Bar Snack Review: The Uncle Albert Barnsley Pig Scratchings smell of pure animal fat, and smell really fresh.
They smell a bit like roast pork crackling, not like normal scratchings. However, they are not overly bacon-like, which is good.
A full range of colours from very light to very dark, but without the usual corresponding flavour varieties from nothing to burnt. The flavours are consistent, and not based upon the amount of cooking.
The skin is hard and crunchy, in a fresh sort of way. The flavour is pretty unique, this might be due to the addition of pepper to the flavouring, which we have never seen before.
The bottom is strewn with small fatty pieces, with no salt on them. This is good to see at the end of a bag, when too much salt can prove to be a bit of a problem. This tells us that all of the salt added is on the scratchings as desired. A good selection of bits and pieces. The bag actually smells better when empty.
