Spar Cortezas de Cerdo – Pork Crunch Review
Hairy Bar Snack Review: I open the bag and take a big sniff, they smell warm, if warm can actually be a smell. They are not porky or fishy, they smell fairly plain.
I bought these on holiday last year, so they are a bit out of date. Even saying that, they are still OK. They are not stale. They are still crunchy. Shelf life is a consideration to make with pork scratchings, as in my experience if there are less than 4 weeks left on the expiry date, you are taking a chance with them being stale.
These are perfectly salted, I think I could easily eat the whole enormous bag without the need for a drink. But there is no added flavour or flavouring, they are just plainly salted. The taste is very plain, but at least you can taste the rinds, and the flavour of the rind is nice. Sometimes it’s not!
The pieces at the top are all large, light in colour and very puffy. They are not gluey and don’t clog up your mouth.
Because this is a large and long bag of pork crunch the smaller pieces seem to have settled to the bottom. The smaller pieces at the bottom are not cooked fully, are a little bit darker and much denser. Not bad, but not the same as the ones at the top. Strangely these smaller ones do make your mouth feel a bit clogged up and gluey.
There is an even amount of salt throughout the whole bag, and no salt has settled at the bottom. There is a very small amount of dust at the bottom which would indicate that this bag has had rather a calm life, not being knocked around in transit. Not even getting bashed around by the baggage handlers on the flight home!
