RTP, Black Country Original Pork Scratchings Review
Hairy Bar Snack Review: Fist off we notice the bag. It’s quite a nice shape, it’s not short and dumpy like we usually see, but tall an thin. Variety is the spice of life.
So… The smell is fairly plain and dry, no added flavourings, fat or fishiness.
A good range of small to large one bite pieces, all of which are nice and golden in colour. The only dark bits are the bits of meat.
They are not very salty which is the first thing we notice. The pieces have a slightly buttery sweet taste, they are fresh and crunchy, not hard or stale. Harder than some lesser brands, but no jawbreakers like the really really traditional ones. No hairs.
The texture is perfect, the fat is not too soft and oily, the skin is not too hard and brutal. The whole piece is as Goldilocks would say, ‘just right’. To the man in the street, these would be the best he’d seen/tasted.
Towards the bottom, the bag is proving to be a bit of an effort. I can’t put my whole hand in (like normal) but instead, I have to put my fingers in and crumple up the sides. Not a problem in the slightest, but something to think about.
A few small bits at the bottom which are not any more or less salty than the rest. I was going to say that the amount of salt was perfect, but as the bag has gone on, I’m finding them a little too un-salty and a little too sweet. The solution to this dilemma is… the perfect bag to share!
