Scratching location: A good clear display of popular snacks, scratchings in a prominent position.
Pub review: A ‘one room’, fairly small pub with a mid-century feel to it. Not old Victoriana, but a Soho in it’s heyday feel. A rarity these days, but what a fine rarity. Cushioned bench type seats all around the edge of the pub, with nice funny slim tables (none of these massive dining tables you sometimes get). A pub full of regulars, especially from the market, so not full of media types like so many pubs around Berwick Street. Two old guys serving, which is a most welcome change when it seems that these days you get served by temporary ‘travelling around Europe’ type bar staff. They took great care to talk to customers and seemed to be quite knowledgeable about their beers. All round a really good pub, and they sell scratchings too!
