Pub review: This is probably the best pub in Loughton, it has become my new local. You may see from our social media posts that this is the pub we go to, to try out all of the pork scratching deliveries that arrive at HBS towers!
The Vicky Tee is always busy, there is always something going on. It’s heaving on a Friday and Saturday night, but not with undesirables, just a few more of the usual nice crowd. If the sun is shining, there will be a very full garden too. Saturday and Sunday afternoons in the summer are particularly busy, so you may have to wait a little while longer to be served or for your freshly cooked food to arrive.
The beer is really good, the usual suspects, plus a few posh lagers. Real Ale ‘aplenty’, Timothy Taylor and Doom Bar are always on tap, plus a good merry go round of guest beers on tap. The fridges are full of some less usual bottles. No plastic bottles, no plastic straws.
The food is good, it’s reasonably priced, with very large portions. A good, varied and interesting selection. Sandwiches if you are looking for something light. Traditional pub grub with a mix of dishes from further afield. You will definitely find what you want.
No music, no fruit machines, no bands, no DJs, no baked beans… just nice.
The pub is located right next to the forest (Epping Forest), so walkers with well-behaved dogs are always popping in at the weekends.
