The Old Kings Head, London Bridge, London – Pub Review
Scratching brand on sale: Midland Snacks – Traditional Pork Scratchings
Scratching location: A large bar area with scratchings clearly visible on card along with other snacks.
Pub review: A really nice unassuming pub in the middle of London, tucked away in an alley off of Borough High Street. Lots of regulars all through the night, crowded, noisy and smoke filled. A good selection of beers (and not just lager!), all bitter seemed to be sensibly priced at £2 per pint.
Skeptics in the Pub uses the upstairs room of the pub, meeting (usually) on the third Thursday of the month starting at 7.30pm. A Quote from their website states:
“The event was founded in 1999 by Scott Campbell and is currently run by Nick Pullar, for all those interested in and/or skeptical of the paranormal, alternative medicine, psychic powers, pseudo-science, UFOs, alien abductions, creationism, Fortean phenomena, cult religions, water-divining, lost civilisations etc.
A different guest speaker is invited each month, to talk on a topic of interest. The talk is followed by an informal discussion in a relaxed and friendly pub atmosphere. Real ales and food are available.”
A most excellent evening was had, and I shall return.
